About this provider

JAGS Foundation provides Advice, Advocacy & Support - to deliver high quality, integrated services to bereaved children, young people and their families.

We contribute our knowledge and expertise to assist in the development of local, national and international strategies that promote the value of bereavement and trauma care and support for individuals affected by youth on youth violence.

JAGS Foundation works directly with affected families to raises awareness of the impact of youth on youth violence by providing intervention programmes in schools and community groups in South London, primarily Croydon, Lambeth, Merton and Wandsworth.

We provide services and safe spaces for healing, education and restoration for marginalised communities that suffer disproportionately from youth violence.

Our work includes:-

1) Preventative Schools workshops, to deliver early intervention support for young people aged from year 6 to year 13 using personal storytelling to raise awareness of the consequences and devastation caused by youth violence.

2) Therapeutic female therapeutic arts and empowerment workshops, which aim to educate, build resilience and increase the life chances of young women and girls aged 12-18 yrs at risk and in fear of gangs, criminality and sexual exploitation Intervention and restorative principled circles to engage young people in self healing, conflict resolution techniques and safe spaces to share, challenge and be heard

3) After-Care programmes including a yearly cultural creative arts event, to nurture their talents through social action, namely ‘A Pinch Of Spice’. This annual event was developed by students in year 9, 10 and 11 as a long-term community response to building positive relationships amongst young people using positive role models, music and poetry

4) Teacher wide initiatives to educate about potential ‘at risk’ behaviours of children directly and indirectly affected by gang/youth violence. Helping schools to share best practices for trauma affected students and typical warning signs of children displaying out of character behaviours and how they can support and prevent unnecessary exclusions

5) Annual OCHI Awards to recognise youth excellence, achieve academic, entrepreneurial and community leadership success.
